Would it be possible to do a linux build? I can probably run the exe on my machine using Wine or Proton, but a dedicated linux build would be better.

i could possibly do this! Though i don't own a machine that can run it so i have no way of testing if it works (for now)

I'd like to try it, but the download doesn't give me an option to download it to my folder, or really, at all

neat little demo, but i find some bug "0.0.3" if that help ,

(i dont have screenshot/video, sorry)

the slime can glitch the sack where you cant pick it up, but can still put item in it (i did try using the box in sewer, no collision(only lost 1keys)how i dont know ,maybe he try to eat it, the slime or chest)

the thief "dont steal" pop-up can make some item got in the floor/placeholder if too close ,it was the sword and a bag of coins that was on the floor (i got lucky that the key did not or it was an hardlock)

it look like guard can see through placeholder sometime (in armory)

hope this get finish in 1 to 3 years maybe 5

Demo doesn’t seem to play nice in the itch.io app, but I’m gonna check this out still. Great looking game

Only found out about this now. Is only the demo of this game available here or is it the full game?

Only the demo for now. The game is still in development!

Got it, thanks!

Still plan to check it out, it looks cool.

thanks!

You're welcome :)

I like it! Cute demo + character!

saw the video on YouTube and was curious if it's too late to suggest an in-game outfit for Rhiri? Or if that was an Indigogo supporter thing?

(+1)

You can suggest if you like! Maybe we'll use it later.

(+1)

Thank you for the reply! I was thinking of a "green parka/tabard" type of outfit, mainly cuz' of another female kobold character I like. Maybe for a cold or windy environment level?

(+1)

Or if this helps?

cute!

Can't run the 0.0.3 version of this game, since the Unreal Engine Prerequisites installation keeps failing to install for me. Not sure how to fix this issue on my end.

If you're getting any kind of error message or anything please take a screenshot of it, and maybe upload it here? (be careful to crop out any personal info if any is in the screengrab)

I am probably going to make a discord soon so that I can track these issues and stuff a little more closely after the update that's coming soon.

This is what I get right as the installation stops. The log file is too large to fit into a single screenshot, but I'm ok with waiting until you have your Discord up to send the log directly.

its up, come on in!

so sweet retro ;D

its very touching to see people like yark so much! <3

I'm trying to download the demo but it just shows up in my notebook app as gibberish.  Is there some kind of app or something that'll let me access the game file?

What kind of notebook are you using? Currently, the demo is only working properly on windows 10 or later PC's.

Windows 10 Home.

Since I have Windows 10, what would you suggest?

it should work on windows 10...could you show me what's happening when you try to run it?

I know some integrated graphics chipsets on notebooks don't work so well with a lot of games/shaders, but I'd like to try and pinpoint the issue.

(+1)

I figured it out.  I just needed to download a RAR file opener to access the game.

It looks promissing! Are you planing on releasing a Steam version?

yes! the version we are crowdfunding right now will be for the release of the steam version. I am planning on releasing it on early access at first once its a little farther along.

(+1)

Aww maan, I wanted to try it out but it doesn't work on Windows 7 it seems! I know it's probably the last thing you're thinking about right now though... Saw this game from Vivid Publishing, showed it off to my friends! Good luck finishing it!!

Yeah sorry! Right now I can only figure out how to make Unreal 5 work with windows 10. I am working on it though!

I like this game, it has a charm that not many games nowadays can confidently replicate like this one, and it's solidly built for a pre-release.

Pros:

  • The bag is a unique way to add weight to the done-to-death game mechanic of stealing in stealth games. The lack of an inventory makes the bag valuable in the eyes of the player, creating a bond between the player and the bag. It also encourages you to be thoughtful of where you plan to place the bag, and which items you want to be readily accessible, like the dagger and keys.
  • The polygonal art style of the world is well made and easy on the eyes.
  •  The player and npc models aren't to be sneezed at. The marvellous amount of work put into hand-animating these characters can be seen in their fluidity.

Room for Improvement:

  • The enemies' pathfinding could be improved, especially for enemies with no set patrol path. If an enemy is too close to an object, like a table, it gets stuck. A knight that chases Rhiri into the sewers can't find its way back out.
  • The enemies' lack of object permanence makes running and hiding too easy. The enemies could afford to chase Rhiri for a while longer, or attempt to track her down.
  • When an enemy is alerted after seeing you, you can hide behind a cage wall and the game will still act like you're hiding behind an opaque object.
  • There is no way to peek out from doorways without the camera pressing into the doorframe and getting a facefull of Rhiri.

Bugs:

  • Talking with the chest in the tutorial while giving it an item it doesn't like will spawn multiple text boxes on top of eachother.
  • Sprinting a certain distance while holding a crate above Rhiri's head before impacting against a wall will bug her animations for a period of time.
  • Pressing the camera against the walls while standing in the sewer water will turn Rhiri's eyes completely black (it also affects the lighting).
  • The jumping animation will change to a walking animation when approaching the apex of the jump.
  • Interacting with items is a shot in the dark. Sometimes the prompt to pick up an item or put an item into the bag doesn't appear.

Thank you for the insight! Though pre-release might be a bit much, this is very much an alpha and i will take this advice to heart, a lot of things are subject to change and improvement!

feedback:

suggestions:

-dialogue menu options should be cyclable with "a" and "d" as well as "w" and "s"

-chocka should just hand you the instructions, and you should maybe just automatically have them in your hand

-you may want to also let left-ctrl do sneak mode, and let space bar be jump. much more natural hand positioning, and its what people will expect.

- "x" makes rhiri disappear (lol)

- found a silver tiara outside the castle inside a slime that sometimes i couldn't pick up with "q"

likes:

-rhiri is really cute

-the donuts make me want real donuts so i went and bought one

-i like that there's a specific special objective for the wizard

-i love the old school look and feel of the game a lot

New BIG update coming soon (I hope!)

Also, join our thieves guild if you want to support the developer and maybe get a physical copy of the game!

Love the art style, background music is soothing and calm, use of sound effects are good.

Love the main character(the player), like the controller, easy to move around.

Suggestion; adding on how to use the controls in the beginning on your settings page.

Looking forward to see where this game is heading.

you're welcome

really like the premise. works well with the art style.

a slime stole my bag and i'm not sure how to get it back.

(+1)

Wack it with a knife or the convenient fallen torch! If those were in the bag then the slime owns all of that now!

you can also squish the slimes with a box
